Synopsis:
“Katabasis” is a journey to the underworld. Nora experienced that dark realm as a child when she was abused. It left a mark on her to making her an ambiguous, manipulative woman, dangerous in her indecipherability, constantly seeking murky situations so that she can relive the only condition she has deeply assimilated: sorrow. And the love story between Nora and Aron is tormented, strictly secret. Aron is a young orphan oppressed by that star system that, conveyed by Jacob, a cynical manager, has made him a star and imposes another life of facade on him. In fact, only the people who gravitate around the prison-house where the couple lives know about Nora's existence. That majestic villa is the scene of secrets, lies, deceptions, as well as disturbing episodes, since Nora is able to communicate with the souls of the afterlife. That golden hell is the emblem of the darkness that Nora is enchanted by but that at the same time she wants to overwhelm, to force into her own code, her own rules. Reality, symbols and metaphors chase each other in the chorality of the film. Characters willing to do anything to alleviate the intolerable burden of suffering that suffocates them, in a desperate search for peace, for forgiveness; while a question arises: are they all dead? Or are they simply dead in their souls?
