We could not reasonably program six documentaries covering similar territory without allowing one subject to overwhelm the rest of the lineup. The Puerto Aventuras International Film Festival is proud to announce the five Fall Bi-Monthly Award winners of Season 4. These films join the five Summer Bi-Monthly winners announced earlier this season, bringing our first group of automatic Official Selections to ten. Five additional winners will be announced following the Winter Bi-Monthly round in November, completing the 15 early selections that will enter our annual program ahead of the Regular Deadline.

It also has red carpets, filmmakers, tropical travel logistics, handcrafted awards, gated-community access, a yacht full of inquiring minds, and plenty of answers to things you might reasonably wonder before traveling to Mexico for an international film festival...

A candid defense of filmmaker outreach, discounted submissions, and the shared responsibility of building a worthwhile film festival. Outreach allows us to improve the quality and diversity of the programming pool instead of relying entirely on passive discovery. It gives us an opportunity to find filmmakers who may never have heard of our festival, especially those working in other countries, emerging markets, or communities outside the usual festival network.

A good festival creates the conditions for something magical to happen. It brings films, filmmakers, audiences, and industry voices into the same space. It immerses itself in the local community encouraging and opening doors for young filmmakers to participate.
