As the 2nd Annual Puerto Aventuras International Film Festival continues to shine a spotlight on bold, socially conscious storytelling, Saturday night, April 5th, promises to be a festival highlight with the world premieres of two compelling environmental documentaries: Voces de la Selva Maya: Una Batalla por la Vida and The Power of One. These headlining films will screen under the stars at the newly renovated Puerto Aventuras Hotel & Beach Club, marking a powerful cinematic culmination to the festival’s weekend programming.
One of this year’s most anticipated features, Voces de la Selva Maya (Voices of the Mayan Jungle: A Battle for Life), is Greenpeace Mexico’s latest call for global environmental awareness. This visually stunning and emotionally charged documentary takes viewers deep into the heart of the Mayan jungle—Mexico’s “green lung”—where Indigenous communities and environmental defenders are fighting to protect their land from deforestation, mega pig farms, industrial agriculture, real estate development, and the controversial Mayan Train. Following the screening, special guests from Greenpeace Mexico and local leaders will host an on-site Q&A, inviting audiences into a critical dialogue about the future of the region’s biodiversity and cultural heritage.
